You’ve booked a family session that’s meant to feel easy, natural, and beautiful. The kind of experience that captures your real life in an artful way. Think about the little things in life we tend to take for granted: thats what I love to capture for you. Here’s how to prepare so the day feels relaxed, cozy, and completely true to you.

1. Choose Outfits That Feel Like You

Pick pieces that are beautiful but comfortable. Clothing that moves with you, reflects your style, and feels good on. Think fashion-forward meets lived-in ease.

Textures like linen, gauze, or knits photograph wonderfully. I am a firm believer in real material; not plastic fillers. And real material looks beautiful no matter what. Avoid anything that requires constant adjusting. The best outfits let you play, snuggle, and laugh freely.

2. Keep Your Space Real (Not Staged)

No need for a deep-clean or magazine-worthy setup. I actually want your home to feel lived in because that’s where the soul of all your love lives.

Just clear away major distractions (Amazon boxes, laundry piles, neon toys) so your space feels inviting. Add a cozy throw blanket, soften the lights, and make room to breathe. That’s all we need.

3. Don’t Prep the Kids

Seriously. No practicing smiles or rehearsed behavior. Just let them know a friend with a camera is coming to hang out for a while. I’ll guide the rest.

4. Be Present, Not Perfect

My sessions are 95% documentary, 5% gentle editorial guidance. That means I let things unfold naturally while occasionally offering prompts to help everyone feel comfortable. No stiff poses. Just small advice toward presence.

5. Embrace the Chaos

Family life is messy and that’s the magic. These aren’t meant to be polished portraits; they’re honest, artful memories of this chapter in your lives with an occasional dash of direction. I let kids be kids. I tend to only direct parents when going for a more posed look (but like I mentioned this is only a small snippet of our time together). The laughter, the snuggles, the snack breaks, and the little glances. That’s what we’re here for.
