Family, Motherhood

When you look back at photos from your childhood, the ones that stay with you probably aren’t the posed portraits where everyone stood still and smiled just right. They’re the ones full of life. Your brother with messy hair leaning on you, helping your mom bake cookies, or you with your cousins making silly faces in the lake with your goggles on.

The point is: those images remind you how it felt to be there, in that moment.

That’s the heart of how I approach family sessions.

I’m not here to force perfection. I’m here to hold space for presence. The chaos, the laughter, the lovable truth of your family. Yes, we’ll choose outfits that feel beautiful and elevated. We’ll tidy up the space and maybe even light a candle. But once we’re ready, it’s time to let go and let everyone be themselves (even if that means being goofy).

With this western-inspired motherhood session, that’s exactly how it unfolded: your little one in cowboy boots running across the dirt road, their sibling tugging at your hand. Mom in a vintage blouse, hair undone in the hot summer wind, holding it all together while letting it all happen at once. We created a vibe, leaned into the look, and then let the story tell itself.

My sessions live in that balance between editorial and documentary. Artfully guided, never stiff. I set the scene, then invite you to be fully yourselves within it. Maybe your toddler twirls in their dress or burrows into your lap. Maybe someone takes off running. Maybe your teen can’t resist teasing their little sister. That’s perfect. That’s the photo.

Because years from now, when you look back, I don’t want you to remember what it looked like to perform. I want you to remember what it felt like to live this chapter and I’ll be there to document it with care, honesty, and an eye for the beauty in the chaos.
